Drawing Forest and Sea
Field Drawing + Writing Workshop 2015 teen + adult Friends of the Forest Anacortes, WA

Combining observational drawing and writing we explored the wooded and watery landscapes of Fidalgo Island with local naturalist and ethnobotanist Denise Crowe.
This two day workshop treated the idea of fieldwork as an interdisciplinary creative practice. What does field work mean if you are an artist, writer, or biologist? Regardless of background, each discipline draws upon keen powers of observation.
Ultimately, participants developed their powers of investigation and reflection through creating a series of drawings and writings that merged poetry and documentation.
